Vaccinate for Cancer?

Poor Willi. Post-op #4 for Vaccine Associated Sarcoma

What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

It seems you’ll soon have the option to vaccinate for something new. You who are owned by a feline can now get a new treatment if your cat gets feline fibrosarcoma.

A cancer vaccine. It comes from Merial with a fancy name that, on the surface, sounds helpful:

Feline Interleukin–2 Immunomodulator

“Hmmm, isn’t interleukin–2 one of the good guys, a cytokine, that helps bodies fight invaders? Like, even cancer?”

Why yes, you’re absolutely right.

“So, how do we get it into our cat, who’s dying a slow death due to this malignant tumor between her shoulder blades? Is it a pill or a tasty liquid we could add to her food?”

What vaccines made, vaccines can cure?

What vaccines made, vaccines can cure?

Umm, no. Not exactly. Merial’s forward thinking scientists have used “recombinant technology” to modify a gene in a canarypox virus. And your forward looking vet will just inject this live virus all around your cat’s malignant tumor.

Before and after surgery.

“Whoa. Hold the phone. Aren’t we talking genetically modified organisms here? Now in a cancer vaccine? For injection around my cat’s malignant tumor??”

Yes, indeed! Welcome to the brave new world of science!

Why a Nasty Malignant Tumor in the First Place?

Great question. I love it when you ask thoughtful questions like this. This used to be called VAS: Vaccine-associated Sarcoma. It was clear to everyone that it was occurring right where vaccines were installed. The rabies vaccine in particular has been incriminated in causing this malignancy. Runner up is the feline leukemia vaccine.

Knowing this cause and effect, vets began injecting the incriminated vaccines in anatomy that was easier to amputate. Like the hind leg. Or even the tail.

I wish I was making this up.

Though the incidence is reportedly low, it’s 100% if your cat gets this tumor. And the tumor is, well, not a good one.

Due to their aggressiveness, these tumors can invade local tissue and even metastasize to other areas of the body which can lead to a very poor prognosis.” – AVMA

Very poor prognosis, in English: your cat will die of this cancer.

Names Have Been Changed, To Protect the, Umm, Profiteers

Interestingly, the term Vaccine-associated Sarcoma has morphed a bit. The AVMA and American Association of Feline Practitioners make mention now of FISS (a great name for anything feline, don’t you think?):

Feline Injection Site Sarcoma.

Because, well, maybe other things beside the aluminum-laden vaccines given all too frequently to your cat could cause this. Who knows? No data on that, but, you know, maybe other things…

And, of course, Merial, being a vaccine manufacturer, knows VAS is just plain bad for business. So, in their literature, they are calling the tumor just Feline Fibrosarcoma.

No mention of vaccines as the cause, as you might imagine. And they are ready to FIGHT this nasty disease.

Label Merial immuno

Start the Fight Earlier!

If you’re a smart pet owner, you’ll know you’ve got to start this fight long before your cat has a tumor threatening her existence.

You’ll take a long, hard look at the known cause. It’s unlikely you’re going to be swayed by Big Pharma telling you how they, arriving late to the scene, and having caused this, are now somehow on your side.

With a bold new Frankenvaccine.

You likely also know that even one rabies vaccination can wreak havoc.

No, the “fight” begins at home. In your deep understanding. Over the main causative factor of tumors: vaccinations.

So now that we have all established how crappy this is…what do u do if you find your cat has this and you did not amputate her leg. 2 1/2 year later because the biospy came back saying it was slow growing type but he did not get it all….she is slowly losing weight but you have not outward signs of it spreading. Granted she was overweight and she is no longer a dry food alcoholic….(we changed to wet and now almost on raw)…..what do u do. I loved it when they told me this only happens every 1 in 10,000. And we were the one with this cat. But then I have 3 others w the same vaccine. She is Siamese…..who have a predispostion to cancer.

      Hi Bon,
Don’t think things would have turned out better if they’d have “gotten it all.” That’s rarely true, as the tumor is merely the tip of the iceberg of deeper disease. Even full amputation is like a finger in the dike and guarantees little. I’d suggest finding a full time vet homeopath to treat her (see the free handout on this page on how to search out the best ones), stick with your raw balanced diet and never, ever vaccinate this pride again. No matter what. They should be immune for life now and risk far outweighs benefit with more shots.

Why are they monkeying with this stuff Dr. Will? yes yes. money I know. But really. There is so much cool research on epigenetics and the methylation process that I’ve got to believe they can come up with something better, charge more and make even more money. This is the just the cheap way of doing it. I don’t mind paying for their research but I refuse to pay for bad science. Sad. so sad.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on January 27, 2016 at 9:26 pm

Epigenetics? They’d have to give up on their byproduct laden, chemically preserved food to make that work. They’re not interested.
“I know, let’s do something high tech and sort of natural looking. People are really buying into the natural thing now, you know?”

I am so sad to have learned all this wonderful info after my dogs have had their puppy shots and rabies shots. At least I have found this wonderful pack leader in Dr. Will and have tried to make my dogs as vital as possible with all this wonderful info. Thank you Dr. Will 🙂

It’s such a joy to walk along with you in reality via your newsletters ~ joy ~ because the strength I acquire through your encouragement to “think-it-through” far, far surpasses any communication available with brick & mortar vets. I’m finished with professional liars.
And, in reading this article, “Vaccinate For Cancer?”, more joy poured into my soul when seeing your words: “No, the “fight” begins at home. In your deep understanding. Over the main causative factor of tumors: vaccinations.”
You’re the best Pack Leader any human with half a canine brain could ask for. Thank you, Dr, Falconer. May the strength and hope you freely give to others return to you in an immeasurable manner.

I’m humbled by this, PT. I’m grateful to know I’m reaching you and bringing you joy and confidence. Thank you for fueling me to go further today.

I knew this so called “cancer” vaccine was going to cause problems!! I would never give this vaccine and Dr. Becker did huge write-up on her blog explaining how “wonderful” this vaccine was going to be. I told her, BS, it was just going to be another vaccine that causes more problems to our poor pets!!

    • Will Falconer, DVM on January 25, 2016 at 6:56 pm

I simply cannot imagine injecting live viruses into a live being is ever going to have a good outcome. Does this ever happen in nature?
Only once, that I’m aware of: bite of a rabid animal. And that doesn’t turn out that great, whether it’s fatal (very low likelihood) or not.
There’s always a great reference point when the next wild thing comes out from Science Knows Best: what’s going on in the real world, the natural world, that supports this?

    • Laurie Matson on February 1, 2016 at 12:24 am

That’s a crime that Dr. Becker was pro this Cancer Vaccine!! I am not pleased to hear that at all.

Seeing the tumor is hard enough. Knowing about this vaccine lottery makes me feel ill. They are so very disconnected from science, real health and truly understanding the body; human and animal.

It’s time to wake up and smell the stench around big pharma and run in the other direction. Run from processed pet food makers, too.
There are too many natural compounds to treat tumors with. Why stick another needle in a suffering pet? I treated my cat’s rabies vaccine-induced cancer with apricot kernels, Essiac Tea, and other herbal remedies, including Dirt Cheap Protocol, and a better diet.
There are no Homeopaths in my area, which would be far better, of course, but I found a vet who’ll do blood work periodically, who is aware of the damage vaccines are doing.
She won’t eat raw, (although I mix some in,) but she is eating home made organic. Her tumor has shrunk so small I can’t feel it anymore. Vaccines really screwed her up–I learned my lesson the hard way. If you have trouble convincing others, just show them the pictures and this article! It should work, even on lazy, resistant people.

As horrific as this is, at least the “experts” are clear and there’s no waffling or denying: this is caused by vaccination. End of argument.
Then it’s up to us to decide how much risk we’ll take with these powerful biologic pharma products.

Ugh that is awful. I try to make others aware of the dangers of vaccines and processed pet food and a lots get upset and just say that it’s what the have always done and their dogs lived to be old. And they think their vet is like a god and say yes to everything they recommend. I think people have to start questioning things more and the phrase “this is how we’ve always done things” is dangerous. I know my dog is lucky to have me be such a great advocate but man i wish some people would listen and be open minded. Diet is SO important. I understand some folks can’t afford a raw organic diet but those that can but just go to the grocery store and buy crappy Purina chow or old Roy, that stuff is disgusting

    • Kelly Hall on January 25, 2016 at 11:09 am

Peter, I agree with everything you said. I am also a “rebel” owned by one old catboy and four dog loves. I believe, like our own health, diet dictates what direction your pet’s health journey will take. But basically I am at the point that, if my vet recommends it or if someone stands to benefit ($) from it – I go home and thoroughly research it first. I too try to blog about everything I discover works for me – some are very interested but others are very closed minded. I thank God every day that I am one of the lucky ones that like to see both sides of the coin before making up my mind. Thank you Dr. Faulconer for another great, informative article! We have to remain so diligent.

Wow, what a novel money making idea. We’ll create a vaccine to cause cancer and another to wipe it away. Good Job to our wondrous pharmaceutical companies for keeping us all in tip top shape.
