#37: Is Nosode Use Safe After Vaccines?
“Are nosodes safe to use after my puppy has already been vaccinated?”
As a homeopathic vet, I’m always puzzled when people ask if it’s safe to use homeopathic remedies after their animal has been given drugs or, in this case, vaccines.
I’m really not sure what’s going through their heads in this, as the reality is there’s no safer medicine I’m aware of than these ultra diluted remedies.
It’s the drugs or vaccinations I’m concerned about safety on!
This episode grew out of such questions and I share with you some of the details of how remedies are made and how they are extremely safe, even if they are made from deadly viruses (often the case with nosodes) or even poisonous venoms or metals like mercury or plants like belladonna.

Are you aware of any protocols to use nosodes in place of Leptospirosis vaccines? My dog spends a lot of time at a relatives whose yard has a drainage issue. Heavy rains or snow melts and there is a lake of water in her yard. I have a 15 pound pug so am not keen on the vaccine.
I’d avoid the vaccine at all costs, but in fairness, I don’t see the risk as very high to get Lepto. Never saw a case in 40 years of practice, many dogs walking along the river in Austin. Keep your dog healthy and don’t worry about this disease.
I am going to pursue the nosodes in lieu of the rabies vaccine, I think, but the dilemma is that the law in Texas is rabies vaccines for cats. Is there a way to minimize the effects of the vaccine if we have to get it?
Nosodes for rabies is a losing gambit. You’d never know when the rabid bite could come, and continual use of any homeopathic remedy is a bad practice.

What if you have parvo on your property from a previous pet. Can we use nosodes or is it to dangerous to bring another pup home?

Nosodes will definitely work when properly used. It’s probably safe to think of not only your property but really every place dogs congregate as potential parvo exposure places. It’s really ubiquitous. Not to be feared, especially in adults, but also not to be ignorant about (as in, “Vaccines are dangerous, so I’m not going to do anything about parvo” — that could be a recipe for disaster)
