Vaccine Injury: Rising in People, Animals

Learning Across Species Lines

We learn about people by studying animals. That happens all the time. Drugs are tested on mice, rats, and primates before they are tested on people.

The U.S cosmetics industry still tests their latest beauty product in rabbits’ eyes, to judge how irritating they are.

[You can opt out of this crazy practice. Buy from cruelty free manufacturers who don’t test this way.]

But, how about learning about animals from studying humans?

Homeopathy is built on that foundation, with remedies all undergoing “provings” on human volunteers. Oh, the irony!

Today, there’s a lot to be learned in both directions about what I consider the greatest predictor of chronic disease on the planet:

Vaccinations.

Kids, Animals: Not All That Different

As I began my foray into understanding health and disease from a more holistic perspective in the early 90’s, it became apparent early on that vaccinations were playing a large role in creating disease states in all species.

Disease states that were and are damned difficult to cure.

The epidemic of autism was just getting some press back then as I shifted away from conventional practice, and the parallel was clear. More shots to kids than ever before in history, more kids lost to their families and society, landing on the autism spectrum shortly after vaccination.

And now, some buried statistics emerge from the U.S. Special Claims Court, who publishes a yearly report about vaccine injury awards.

Vaccine injured people lost the right to sue the drug companies 30 years ago, under the Reagan administration. Now, if you have an injured child after vaccination, this “vaccine court” is where you go, hoping to get some help financially to cover the great expenses that cheap shot caused.

And for the lifetime of expenses you face going forward.

Let’s Hide This Data in Plain Sight

Statistics can be helpful when they are widely distributed in a useful fashion. Spreadsheets come to mind. They’ve been available for, oh, some forty years now.

But, if you have data that could be damaging to a large industry that has its mitts in a lot of pockets, it might be better to publish data in a way that’s visible, but damned near impossible to analyze and use.

And that’s just what the vaccine court does, where “special masters” act as judge and jury. Every year in January they cough up the prior year’s award damage report.

Rather than a spreadsheet that would make analysis easy, the vaccine court publishes their annual vaccine injury settlement payouts in PDF files.

220 pages worth this year.

Which makes sorting and analyzing the data a huge chore that nobody bothers with.

Wait. Even the media?

Oh, especially the media. This vaccine injury report never makes headlines or TV airtime. The press regularly ignores it. As do health officials, politicians, and the CDC.

The Dirty Details

It turns out that, with enough determination and volunteers and time, these “hidden” data can be mined. The 2015 report (published in January 2016) was finally worked into reportable trends by a dedicated group who cares to know: The Mom Street Journal

And what a story these trends tell.

After 10 months of labor, the following understanding emerged from the 2015 data:

  • Total settlements to the vaccine injured increased by 382% in a year’s time. From $22.8 million in 2014 to $114 million in 2015.
  • Payments for vaccine injury from the flu shot topped the charts: up over ten times (i.e. 1000%)! $4.9M in 2014 payments rose to $61M in 2015 payments.

Seen the annual Fall barrage of ad campaigns urging you to “Get your Flue Shot?” (Now, for your convenience: drive through clinics!). Blithely unaware of the vaccine court’s data, do you suppose?

Here’s graphic look at 2014 vs 2015 vaccine injury payments:

vaccine injury payments 2015Interestingly, the HPV vaccine (Merck’s Gardasil), being marketed with uncannily unscrupulous advertising to young girls and their parents, didn’t make the graph, but payments related to it were up to $3.4 million in 2015, from almost none in 2014.

And now, they are trying to vaccinate young boys with this same vaccine, originally aimed at stemming cervical cancer.

I wish I was making this up.

Got Your Flu Shot?

I see at least two take aways for you in all this.

  1. Like humans, animals are also commonly injured, becoming chronically ill after vaccinations. Most commonly, that’s called “allergic itch,” and it’s been the #1 reason dogs see vets for over a decade. We in holistic vet practices see the association with vaccination.
  2. You would benefit from avoiding the useless and problematic flu shot.

If you’ve followed this over the years, you know the vaccine manufacturers have to literally guess which flu strains to put in this year’s vaccine. The latest flu virus hits the streets well after the vaccine has been manufactured for any given year.

And they often guess wrong.

So, “protection” often fails. That’s called a lack of efficacy.

Far more significant is the lack of vaccine safety, and that’s true in human and animal vaccines in equal measure.

What’s the #1 Flu Shot Payout FOR?

These folks who got damaged by the flu shot were most often victims of paralysis, from the autoimmune attack on their nerves, called Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Here’s data on that and other serious side effects from a March, 2014 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services report.

Paralysis? Or flu? Which would you rather deal with?

Similar outcomes have been seen from rabies vaccine. Ever heard of laryngeal paralysis? How about degenerative myelitis? Here’s a case with both, post-rabies vaccination.

Best Bet for Flu 2016

I haven’t had the flu since I can remember. Used to get it every single Winter growing up in Wisconsin. Probably being fed three glasses of pasteurized, homogenized milk daily had something to do with that.

In the past couple of decades, I’ve used immune boosting to help me beat flu, and I especially hit it hard when people around me are going down with the aches and fever and malaise.

I don’t have time for that!

My go to preventative is Transfer Factor Plus, which I distribute to my clients and readers and have for over a decade now.

Safety is there. No such thing as an overdose with this supplement.

Efficacy is there as well. Studied for over 50 years now, there are literally thousands of studies on the transfer factors in scientific literature.

About 5 years ago I was at the Dr’s to have a yearly exam and was surprised when I was rushed into getting a tetanus/whooping cough shot. It literally happened with lightening speed! Within a day, my left arm pit and breast swelled so that I couldn’t rest my arm against my body. I went in to be rechecked a day later and was told it was a reaction to the shot, no big deal, there shouldn’t be a problem next time I get one. Really?? Oh no, not doing that again!! EVER!! No more vaccines of any kind for me. Because of this I am also weary of them for my animals as well.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on January 1, 2017 at 10:44 pm

You won’t be rushed into such a big decision again, and you’ve learned from your experience to extend the same to you animals. Brilliant, Susan.

Dr Falconer thank you for your perseverance trying to educate owners and people in general. It is good to see the statistics on injuries caused by vaccines on people, we don’t hear about this on the news ever.

  3. Patricia Baga on December 5, 2016 at 3:46 pm

Because of Dr. Falconer, I am a believer that vaccinations cause autoimmune disease. I had dutifully had both of my cats vaccinated yearly for 6 years of their lives when one of them became allergic to flea bites and was diagnosed with eosinophilic plaque, an autoimmune condition, which conventional vets usually treat with cortisone. We did allow a round of cortisone treatments, which did not help, so we turned to homeopathy and 4Life products–Transfer Factor Plus and Feline Complete. It took seven months and vigilance on our part to keep him from licking his sores in order to heal them. After 1 1/2 months of “wellness,” he was bitten by fleas again and we are currently three months into helping him heal from the new plaques. My question is: From what I know of using transfer factors, TF Classic is the product that calms an overactive immune system whereas TF Plus highly stimulates the immune system. Should I have been giving my cat the TF Classic instead of the TF Plus? Has anyone had experience with this that can tell me which transfer factor product to use? Thank you.

    • Nora Claypool on December 5, 2016 at 4:02 pm

I tried the feline Transfer Factor–my cat threw it up because it has wheat in it. She can’t keep anything with wheat in it down, thanks to the terrible intestinal inflammation she has, that resulted from vaccines. Dr. Falconer has a “people” Transfer Factor with no wheat in it…I’d try that one if you have an allergic cat.

      • Patricia Baga on December 9, 2016 at 3:21 pm

        Hi Nora,
I am so sorry to hear about your cat’s intestinal inflammation. My cat is tolerant of the Feline Complete, though he doesn’t like the taste of it, even though I started giving it to him since he was a kitten. I have to hide a little in his wet food each time I feed him. I also give him the human TF Plus, which has no taste.
See my reply to Dr. Will (below). If marijuana is legal in your state, you may want to read about using an extract with your cat. Best wishes for her healing.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on December 5, 2016 at 8:50 pm

      Hi Patricia,
So, the bottom line, from immunology is: a stimulated immune system is a balanced immune system. That was a revelation to me, but makes sense now.
In serious immune diseases, I use a base of the TF Feline and add TF Plus at a cap a day. Unlike Nora’s cat, most all my feline patients both love the Feline formula and do well on it.
p.s. if you don’t significant betterment in a month, I’d be searching out a homeopathic vet to consult with. That’ll be deeper treatment, constitutional treatment, unique to classical homeopathy. My Resources page has a list of them.
p.p.s don’t be afraid to work by telephone if there’s no one near you practicing almost all homeopathy.

      • Patricia Baga on December 9, 2016 at 3:14 pm

        Hi Dr. Will,
Thank you for your reply, which gives me the confidence to continue with TF Plus and Feline Complete, which I mix into our cat’s wet food. We had consulted with a homeopathic vet early on, who was not ready to treat our cat (Kemo) with homeopathy during the first incidence. In the meantime, a friend of mine who studied under Dr. Pitcairn gave me a homeopathic protocol that she learned from Dr. Pitcairn, using Sulphur and Thuja occidentalis, which we followed during the first incidence and again when the second incidence occurred. Then we started Kemo on an extract (Rick Simpson Oil) made from a marijuana strain containing properties recommended by Rick Simpson for healing autoimmune conditions, among other chronic health problems. It’s nasty tasting stuff, so I put it in a tiny capsule along with some extra Feline Complete and administer twice a day. We have been giving Kemo the extract for two months and will probably continue with it indefinitely. His plaques are healing, however slowly, so perhaps this is what is to be expected and I need to be patient and allow it to run its course. I may consult with the homeopathic vet again–she is a mobile vet and also consults by phone and Facetime, which is very convenient.
A friend of mine in Scotland told me about you, and I am grateful to be part of your “pack.”

There are 18 states that provide for medical exemptions in lieu of rabies vaccinations. They are: Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia and Wisconsin. See http://www.rabieschallengefund.org for the states’ statutes.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on December 5, 2016 at 9:25 pm

While true, this has limited use Linda. You are basically pleading with government authorities to grant you a year’s “stay of execution.” Has to be re-pleaded every year. Most of my clients and readers have resorted to a more radical stance, or at least “flying under the radar.”

      • Linda Krueger on December 6, 2016 at 3:57 pm

Well . . . it worked for me and my dog who had been given the full panoply of vaccinations by the shelter that picked her up as a stray before I adopted her. Perhaps you remember what the prevalent attitude is toward animals (farm, companion and wild) here in America’s Dairyland where you were served milk three times a day. Unfortunately, it may be easier to take a more radical stance or fly under the radar in Austin than it is in other places.

  5. Bonnie C. on December 5, 2016 at 8:39 am

I am not getting a flu shot this year and the reason is because of all my dogs. I now take my dogs to a vet that I travel 2 hours to get to. She does Kinesiology and my dogs have improved so much! This may be a different form of holistic care but they are being “detoxed” from these horrible immunizations all these years….I lost two dogs with in the year and one had cancer and a local conventional vet gave her a RABIES shot and would not waive it even though she was ill. Her health declined rapidly and I blame myself for being ignorant and not walking out of there. I will NEVER trust a conventional vet again and I cringe and PRAY I do not have an emergency come up where I have to take them to one. Dr. Falconer I pray for so many blessings to come to you….for the many people that have now found you they will now be educated and hopefully have many more years with their loved pets than I did. I am blessed to still have others and now they are being cared for appropriately and it is because of your putting the word out. I can’t thank you enough.
    Bonnie C.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on December 5, 2016 at 8:58 pm

      Hi Bonnie,
Thanks for sharing your story with us here. It’s malpractice to vaccinate an animal with cancer, law be damned.
I’m glad you’ve taken that sad experience and used it to firm up your stance on consuming “prevention” in wise ways. You’ll be an inspiration to others to stand their ground.
And so the understanding spreads. Thanks again for your dedication and kind thoughts.

  6. Lucy Jordan on December 5, 2016 at 8:32 am

    Hi Will
Great article and thanks for the link to the analysis of the Vaccine Court’s data. Valuable work done there, my gratitude to the volunteers who gave their time and energy.
For the record, I don’t vaccinate my pets and didn’t vaccinate my children either, even though Dr Human Whitecoat harangued me for half an hour and when he realised I was not backing down he finally marked the children’s medical records with “MOTHER REFUSES VACCINATION” in a red pen, I watched him do it. This was 25 years ago in the UK. I can’t imagine what a shit-fight it would be these days to refuse jabs, especially in the US. I live in Greece now and the Greek children receive 20 jabs before 2 yrs old. It’s horrific. I’ve had numerous discussions with pro-vaccinators which invariably turn into arguments, it’s almost like a religion to them. I don’t talk about it anymore unless I’m asked.
Btw. I have just had a great success treating Leishmaniasis with alternative methods. One of my dogs was Leish +, she was a street dog. She has been tested negative twice, a year apart. She is now officially Leish free. Treatment; species appropriate diet, turmeric and silver water. That’s all.
    All the best
    Lucy

    • Will Falconer, DVM on December 5, 2016 at 9:18 pm

I hear you, Lucy, and bravo in your strong stance. I, too, raised a passel of vaccine free kids who were rarely sick. And yes: choose who you talk to about this carefully, to save your sanity.
Very cool on your Leish+ cures! Thanks for the inspiration.

  7. Dr. Carolyn Contois, DAN on December 5, 2016 at 8:05 am

I am an animal naturopath and a certified master groomer. I have a successful energy treatment practice and I also do some boarding and grooming. After 25 years of boarding in my home, I’d like to cut back (and after 27 years of grooming, my hands are telling me to quit! ) My clients are crying because they can’t find boarding and grooming services for their dogs without vaccination records. My question is, is their anyway these people can find a holistic vet to work with and develop some kind of certification that these dogs are indeed healthy? Are the use of titers and nosodes legal and/or practical? Using these methods alone does not create health and safety. Its a lifestyle, a choice of perception and a deprogramming of cultural mimes that brings real change. I welcome your thoughts on the issue.
PS…love following you journey… thank you

    • Will Falconer, DVM on December 5, 2016 at 9:15 pm

      Hi Carolyn and welcome.
Titers are both legal and useful to a point. Please see my reply to Peter for more understanding there.
Nosodes have a place, but only in early life. I teach an entire course on nosodes and tautodes and will see about releasing it again in 2017.
As to “certification,” I think it unnecessary. If boarding and grooming facility owners have the upper hand in “calling the shots,” and think “up to date” vaccinations are important, they should be fired and more enlightened ones found.
They are missing important understandings about duration of immunity and will damage animals by steadfastly holding to outdated requirements.
Mobile groomers and pet sitters are but one easy answer in most locales.
Spend money where it supports enhancing your animals’ health! Vote with your pocketbook, and tell those you fire why.

Hi dr falconer, haven’t been on your site in a while so it was nice to receive your newsletter This morning. I will have to read the blog later after work but just wanted to comment that I no longer vaccinate my dog, I’ve gotten titers done and my dogs rabies titer came back extremely high, she is set for life. Am so thankful too that I have a day care where she can go with titers and a vet that will see her with an “out of date” cert.

    • Dr. Carolyn Contois, DAN on December 5, 2016 at 8:07 am

I thought rabies titering was illegal?

      • Karin on December 5, 2016 at 9:45 am

I asked my vet to do a rabies titer on my dog and it came back really high, so I decided not to have him vaccinated again. The town licensing office did not accept the titer as proof, so I told them that he was sick (he had terrible allergies) and just paid the penalty fee, $10 per year. The vet office also refused to see my dog if I didn’t get him vaccinated again (even though they had ordered his titer), so I found a holistic vet practice who didn’t bother me with the vaccines. The only problem would have been if my dog would have been attacked by a wild animal or gotten into a fight with another dog and he was reported by someone else. Or if he would have needed medical attention for it, the first vet office said they would either quarantine him for 6 months or put him to sleep because he was not up to date on his rabies. My dog never jumped on people and I always kept him on a leash during walks, so I was willing to take the risk. My friend’s dog jumped on a delivery person (did not bite) at her house and the delivery man reported it to animal control who knocked on her door the same day and asked for proof of rabies vaccination. Thankfully the dog was up to date on her 3 yr rabies vaccination.

        • Will Falconer, DVM on December 5, 2016 at 9:29 pm

This is a common area that needs education, Karin. You have rights via the Compendium of Animal Rabies. Six months quarantine is if your animal is bitten by a presumably rabid animal. It can be done at home, in some cases. Ten days is the quarantine if your animals bites a person and the vaccination status does not matter any longer. Some will allow this at home as well.
It’s far better to learn all you can here than to act out of fear. Which rabies has plenty of as it is, most of it unnecessary.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on December 5, 2016 at 9:06 pm

Bravo, Peter. I salute your understanding of what titers really mean: done for life, when positive results are there.
Anyone not understanding this, and thinking yearly titers are a smart idea, you’ll save money and unnecessary testing if you head over to this page.
Thanks Peter. You are a bright light in this Pack.

Mi told my friend about your link and she as I started believing that our dogs whom are both ichy and allergic where being effected by vaccinations.
I gave my dogs the heart worm medicine and immediately say a change in his condition for worse.
My friend took her dog in to our same vet,
And told them she was not giving them the rabies shot at this time because they are sick.
The vet understood but the techs got in her face. This vet only works part time for the owner of facility. She is open to this stuff.
The next time Jen went it Maggie the vet said she had to vaccinate the dogs this time or the girls would cause trouble and turn her in?
So she felt forced to vaccinate now one of her dogs has cancer. She feels it’s linked.
My allergic dog is due for a yearly. Booster,
Not rabies until next year he had a 3 year shot.
I would love to find a vet in my area that is holictic?
I went in for something and the front desk lady said Koda is due for his booster, I just said I have not had time to bring him in.
    But it was weird.
I don’t know if somehow my name was brought up at the time my friend said she did not want vaccinate and now I’m flagged.
    I live in Louisville,ky.
Anyone you know I can switch to who understands your approach?
I’m interested in learning more about all of it I purchased the $25.00 special.
But I would love a hard copy of all your materials do u sell books?
Thanks for your information. It’s so sad to see what is happening to people and animals because of overvaccinations.
All in the name of money.
    🙁

    • Will Falconer, DVM on December 5, 2016 at 9:03 pm

      Hi Jeanne,
It’s not unusual to find office staff and vet techs who are deeply committed to an ignorant stance. They just can’t let it go. Open mindedness is not part of their world.
Given that, it is best to get out before damage is done in the name of ignorance and stubbornness.
I don’t personally know vets in your area, but you should be able to find help on my Resources page, either via the AVH list or the AHVMA list there.
Best to you and your animals!

  10. Szaffi Forillo on December 5, 2016 at 7:12 am

Thank you Dr. Falconer for spreading the truth about vaccines. I totally agree with you. Pets and humans are in danger. The rising number of children diagnosed with autism or exhibiting autism like symptoms are very scary. This is “just” an other side effect of vaccination. We all need to get educated and make the right decision! Say No To Vaccines!
