#29 When prevention CAUSES disease

Are you unknowingly causing illness in your animals in the name of prevention?

This week’s episode was inspired by Sarah, who commented that her young Golden Doodle had just gotten sick for the second month in a row and she’s now wondering if she unwittingly caused the bloody diarrhea and vomiting by giving her pup heartworm prevention.

Join me for an enlightening discussion on not only heartworm but prevention in general.

Could your good intentions be paving the road to a hellish state of health for your animals?

It took me several years to connect the dots on this, but once connected, I was amazed at how often animals were damaged after a “routine checkup” from Dr. WhiteCoat.

Let me save you time: take a listen and you’ll be getting a head start (that no one taught me until I’d been a holistic vet for several years).

Hi. The two products listed Nyguard ex1 and the nematodes for the yard are discontinued. Can you make any other product suggestions for managing flea populations? One goldendoodle, two cats.

I had the same experience several years ago with my Weimaraner. After his first treatment with Advantix, he ended up in the emergency hospital on fluids for three days. They wanted to do exploratory surgery, and I took him home AMA. A month later, he started the same vomiting and bloody diarrhea.I concluded that it was a reaction to the Advantix, never gave it to them again, and never had another incident.

Bravo, Carol. I’m glad you saw the connection and changed your mind on the use of pesticides like this.

My employer gave their dog Apoquel for itching, a month later Bella’s bleeding out both ends and vomiting. She also developed a small tumor in her rectum. The wife wanted to sue the Vet., I handed her the drug insert and said you can’t. Drug induced tumors are listed. It’s really sad watching people drug & jab their pets practically to death, but then they believe everything their TV tells them, questioning nothing. It’s why her husband is on the most addicting cocktail of psychiatric drugs (6 of them) on the market. He believes he has a ‘chemical imbalance’ therefore, needing the drugs to fix it. He was a white collar worker now applying for Disability. The Medical Cartel runs this planet, and it does pay to pay attention. In fact, it may just save your life.

I’m just sorry our trust in medicine has been so co-opted. It does pay to pause, do your research, and then decide if you’re going to take the drug or procedure that’s being offered. Most times, these words will serve you, as you are rarely faced with life or death decisions:

“We’ll pass on this today so I can do some more research. I’ll be in touch later if we decide to get this treatment from you.”
