Vaccinated vs Unvaccinated: The Study Skeptics Tried to Hide

Snopes Was Part of the Coverup

A long-awaited research study came to light recently, the first of its kind to compare goodly numbers of vaccinated vs unvaccinated kids.

What was the study seeking to learn?

The researchers cautiously asked a logical, but unorthodox question: is it possible that all this immune–mediated disease has anything to do with the immune-mediating drugs that children are given in doses five times that of their parents? (And yes, autism is brain damage but it is almost certainly the result of a damaged immune system). Could it have anything to do with the 50 doses of 15 immune-stimulating vaccines before age six compared to the three doses of three vaccines the last generation — that wasn’t so sick — got?1

First of Its Kind

When I say long-awaited, it’s because this kind of study has never been done.

It compared well-matched children who were vaccinated and unvaccinated, and tracked how they fared from age 6-12.

It is one of very few studies to examine the explosion of once rare disorders and conditions affecting modern children (all the millions of 21st century First World earaches, allergies, hayfever, ADD, neurodevelopmental disorders and autism, that is damaging young children’s brains in spiking numbers).2

And, The Envelope, Please

The results were quite striking.

The vaccinated kids had significantly greater health challenges, especially the chronic, long lasting kind:

Vaccinated children were significantly more likely than the unvaccinated to have been diagnosed with the following: allergic rhinitis (10.4% vs. 0.4%, p <0.001…), other allergies (22.2% vs. 6.9%, p <0.001…), eczema/atopic dermatitis (9.5% vs. 3.6%, p = 0.035…), a learning disability (5.7% vs. 1.2%, p = 0.003…), ADHD (4.7% vs. 1.0%, p = 0.013…), ASD (4.7% vs. 1.0%, p = 0.013…), any neurodevelopmental disorder (i.e., learning disability, ADHD or ASD) (10.5% vs. 3.1%, p <0.001…) and any chronic illness (44.0% vs. 25.0%, p <0.001…).3

Oh, and ASD? Yes, that’s Autism Spectrum Disorder.

In simple language,

The researchers got some very troubling answers. They reported Odds Risk ratios similar to smoking and lung cancer for vaccination and immune-mediated allergic rhinitis, for example. And a more than four-fold higher risk of vaccinated children having been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum than unvaccinated children.4

Kids and Animals? Not All That Different

They all suffer similar chronic diseases, with allergies of one kind or another topping the list.

While the humans tend to show allergies in their respiratory tracts (sneezing, stuffed up noses), the favored organs for our pets to show allergies are usually skin and ears.

And, as you may remember, we have over a decade’s worth of data showing allergic skin disease and allergic ear inflammation are the #1 and #2 reasons dogs get taken to vets.

So, this recent study is significant to you, as you choose who’s going to wear the “prevention pants” in your family.

Are you going to give them to Dr. WhiteCoat?

Or put them on yourself?

Because the number of vaccinations your pet gets really depends on who owns this conversation.

Does your Dr. WhiteCoat still recommend annual (God forbid!) or triennial vaccinations for your pet? With a bit of study on this site and elsewhere, you’ll quickly learn there’s zero science behind such protocols.

Dirty Tricks Department

Here’s where you get the lowdown on who’s on your side and who’s not to be trusted.

I wrote about the so-called skeptics earlier and suggested they aren’t worth your time and attention. But they are worth keeping a cautious eye on.

That’s really become clear with what happened to this study on kids, vaccinated vs unvaccinated.

The study, even before publication in a peer-reviewed journal, was withdrawn. Why?

When the Mawson paper was under review at Frontiers last year, a Skeptic named Leonid Schneider leapt into action.

“I pride myself to have caused the Frontiers anti-vaxx retraction with one tweet!” he tweeted. “The anti-vaxx paper was published as abstract, a reader alerted me, I tweeted, Frontiers got scared, pulled the paper.” Before it was published.5

Scared the publisher? (Frontiers is one who published the author’s work)

Yep, bring those jackboots down on the publisher, and get all proud of scaring him out of publishing something that could help us understand vaccines and health better.

See why you want to keep an eye out for these guys and their shenanigans?

Truth Triumphs Over Fear. Snopes Loses All Credibility.

It didn’t take long before cooler heads prevailed, and the paper was indeed published.

Snopes has yet to update their posts about the paper being “retracted,” which it never was. It was just delayed.

In case you haven’t heard it before, Snopes is not a trustworthy source of ferreting out truth, as I once thought it was. Looking more like a grocery store tabloid lately, it’s clearly aligned with those biased skeptics whose goal is to keep you in the dark.

In another example, Snopes defended Trifexis’ safety.

Based on what?

The manufacturer’s brief safety studies that got Trifexis to market quickly. And some vets who believed that Elanco study and are selling big bunches of Trifexis to unwary pet owners.

Umm, sorry, Snopers, you’re no longer going to be believed as a source of neutral inquiry into what’s real on the internet.

How Does This Human Study Affect Your Decisions?

Let us know in the comments if this study has ramifications for your vaccination choices for your animals.

Does it confirm your present stance, start you thinking it’s time to shift, or drive you in some other direction?

Vaccination is, in my mind, your most significant decision, bar none. Tell us where you stand.

Our cat is now 4 years old. He was vaccinated with rabies vaccine at 3 months (he was a side of the highway rescue). Poor guy got a FISS within 2 weeks after vaccination. We insisted on surgical removal of the tumor. At his surgical check up we asked about vaccinating him in different areas other than the back of the neck…ie tail or legs, our vet said, why so we can amputate those instead. I asked about ordering vaccines without additives in the future, he said, no, we will just remove the tumors if he gets them! I was appalled. Our fur baby started to get ear infections, lost all his fur, and got body sores. We were told it was a flea allergy, but no fleas could be found in the house or on our indoor pets. We haven’t taken any of our animals, except our horse for teeth, since that diagnosis. For 3 years now, this poor fur baby has been battling intermitten fur loss and random sores. We treat him with mms and borax baths, he gets better for a bit, then gets them back. I have never heard of a holistic veterinarian, but will now look into that! Thank you for all your great wisdom Doctor!!

I refuse to get any vaccines for myself, even today. My PCP used to try to pressure me but doesn’t anymore. My husband, on the other hand, listens to his doctor most of the time. As for my dogs, I stopped vaccinating them years ago….except for one who got rabies vaccines until he was 7. He’s 10 now and isn’t getting anymore. I tried to talk my son and daughter in law into delaying vaccines for the grandkids. They have their own minds and unfortunately didn’t listen. The oldest grandson was diagnosed with ADHD and is on medication for it. The other grandson has Williams Syndrome and is really hyper. Of course, they both eat nothing but junk food so a lot of that has contributed to their behavior. I recommended they look into medical marijuana but it doesn’t look like they are open to that just yet. I just hope that one day people will wake up and listen to reason. It doesn’t help that no studies between vaccinated and unvaccinated kids appear to be published and promoted. I’m always called an uneducated anti-vaccine goofball since it is claimed that there aren’t any studies that prove that vaccines cause any bad reactions or health issues. Why do they think there is a National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program if there aren’t any injuries from vaccines ? Too many people have their heads in the sand and believe whatever they are told by the medical profession. It’s sad !

  3. Dana Flemming on December 30, 2017 at 12:28 pm

Yes indeed. It’s driving me both crazy and broke!
I revisited the past 40 + years and realized that when I was growing up my family rarely had to take any of our dogs to the vet. I also recalled that the vaccines were pretty basic…distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis and rabies. Quite frankly, in those days, our dogs were not re-vaccinated as a rule and were never ill. The first dog that I had that suffered considerable problems was acquired in 1990 and my most recent dog was acquired in 2013. Both dogs had/have significant skin problems requiring considerable diligence to keep under control. My dogs, prior to the mid-80’s did not suffer from these issues. They rarely ever saw a veterinarian. The strongest evidence for these differences thus far appears to be the vaccines. I am very disappointed with the vets that continue to flog off these vaccines as essential while ignoring the overall consequences of their actions.

  4. Dana Flemming on December 3, 2017 at 11:03 pm

Grew up in the 50’s and kids didn’t have these illnesses or problems in school. I also raised show dogs in the 70’s and 80’s and NONE of my dogs ever had skin problems and most lived to a very ripe old age. I wasn’t feeding commercial kibble. I was feeding raw. Anyone remember Show Circuit raw dog food?
I saw a big change in the early late 80’s/early90’s. Dogs with cancer, skin problems, behavioral issues, etc.
I never understood why and my current dog is suffering. No more vaccinations for him and will be contacting a homeopathic veterinarian!!!
Thank you for sharing this “Vital” information!!!

    • Will Falconer, DVM on December 3, 2017 at 11:21 pm

Right on, Dana. We’ve observed the same phenomena. And while food is important, certainly, it can be changed today for a good outcome in another few days. Vaccination effects can be forever. I’ve seen it in practice regularly, and the resultant long-lasting chronic problems vaccines create drive people crazy and often broke.

  5. question about feline asthma on September 18, 2017 at 12:48 pm

I am completely anti-vax and my cat has never been vaccinated. At all. He is 13, has never been outside and seems to have developed asthma oddly enough. I am very careful with his diet and he never displayed allergies before. He has always been 100% healthy. It looks like classic asthma (I have compared to you tube examples) and want to take him to a holistic vet yet will they force me to vaccinate for rabies before they will see him? His appetite is fine, drinking water fine, going to the bathroom fine and acting fine after an episode but I do want him checked. It is sad that many smart people are actually fearful of vets due to the forced vaccination rules of rabies. I will never vaccinate. Ever.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on September 20, 2017 at 1:27 pm

Inherited chronic disease, possibly, a not uncommon cause of illness. Well worth interviewing the vet you’re considering paying, right? Vaccination requirements to care for a sick animal? Immediately move on. That’s called malpractice, by the way.
Best bet: a homeopathic vet. I’ve got a “vetted” list of them on my blog post about metronidazole.

  6. Carly Stevens on June 12, 2017 at 9:15 am

Thanks, an up to date study!
My son was not vaccinated and my animals are not vaccinated. I use homeopathic nosodes, for the cats and dog. I’ve kept cats for 40 years and not vaccinated at all for the last 25 years.
My son has had all the now common childhood illnesses expect mumps. He and I both had whooping cough at about the same time (I of course was vaccinated as a child, he was not), I was far more seriously ill with it than he was. What fights off illness is a robust immune system, good diet and good public health.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on June 13, 2017 at 4:13 pm

Nice case study in you and your son, Carly! We see similar things in those vaccinated for parvo, but still getting it, same with kennel cough: the vaccinated animals have a much slower recovery (or they die more often) vs those who’ve not been vaccinated. One of my colleagues actually gathered data (and is probably still, now several years later) on this in parvo cases. He sees a much greater cure rate and less sick time in those not vaccinated vs the vaccinated pups.

  7. Lucy on June 12, 2017 at 1:01 am

Absolute, both feet in, anti vaxxer. Neither my children, nor my animal companions. Vaxx is just a way to create repeat customers for the wicked and anti-life pharmaceutical industry.

  8. Dora on June 11, 2017 at 11:15 pm

Dr. Will, at 7 weeks old, my puppy got only ONE shot (with different vaccines on it) . Now my puppy is 11 months old, should i take him to get a SECOND shot of vaccine? or instead get a titer to see if he got immunized from his FIRST shot.
Thank you so much for educating and providing us with valuable information.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on June 12, 2017 at 9:01 am

      Hey Dora,
I’d do the titer, but I might not interpret a positive titer as coming from that early shot. Seven weeks is pretty borderline, Mom’s antibodies could have still been there to negate any immune response. That’s not to say your 11 mo has no immunity unless she’s been raised in near isolation. I’d bet, if she’s been around other dogs, dog parks, etc, she’ll have a titer to parvo. That virus is very widespread. If there’s no titer for distemper, I’d assess your risk. It’s a pretty newsworthy disease, especially in dog circles.
If no one has heard of it in 30 years, I’d be hard pressed to recommend another round of shots. And parvo is mostly a puppy virus. So, again, not near the risk at 11 months when the immune system has matured.
Weigh your risks of getting either of these two (ignore the rest, they are not deadly), see what your titer shows, and decide.

  9. Nora Claypool on June 11, 2017 at 10:50 pm

“Vitamin N” ! Hoo, I like that. Humanity needs to get an abundance of that vitamin and stop letting men and women who call themselves government steal us blind and wreck our pets health, as well as our own health. The Truth About Vaccines aired a couple months ago. It wasn’t an eye opener for me since I live with a vaccine damaged cat, but it struck me how badly we need to spread this information. The only way to change things is the way doc is doing it…stand up for the truth and spread the word to everyone you meet.

  10. Michelle on June 11, 2017 at 10:00 pm

Totally in the anti-vaccine camp here. Unfortunately for us, flying under the radar is no longer possible. Long story short our 1yo border collie was loose and brought back by animal control, who subsequently gave us a ticket for failure to license the dog. Well, ticket paid but low and behold the officer came BACK and issued ANOTHER ticket. Talk about waste of tax money.
I cannot afford to perpetually pay tickets, and our dog has already had a bought of itchy skin problems from puppy shots (done before we got him). I’m rather at a loss for how to protect my dog and not lose my butt in fines.

    • Patty Cloonan on June 11, 2017 at 11:04 pm

Doesn’t change my mind, it further cements my belief that vaccines are a hoax. I am an avid anti-vaxxer!

    • Will Falconer, DVM on June 12, 2017 at 9:20 am

Damn, Michelle, where do you live? People have had to get creative in various ways to avoid vaccinating their already immune pets. Check the comments on some of my posts addressing rabies (you can search that word in the search box, and it’ll bring up quite a list). I remember a lot of them were on this post’s comments, but there are others. All the best.
p.s. if he gets itchy again (likely, the more you vaccinate, just count out a month and you’ll likely see it), you also want to be aware that you have a waiver of sorts.

  11. Gale Gault on June 11, 2017 at 9:37 pm

My little poodle always hurt after getting a multi shot and I’d tell the vet, no more! They say, we’ll just give them one at a time. I decided she hurt toouch to get them again. But I’ve found they make me get her vaccinated before they’ll groom her. We started looking for places that don’t require shots to get clipped. It’s difficult to find. I could do it myself but she would rather break her leg rather than have me clip her. Little turkey!!!

    • Will Falconer, DVM on June 12, 2017 at 9:23 am

Pressure tactics, based entirely on profit, Gale. I’m so sorry you have to deal with charlatans like this. I’d try to find a mobile groomer, and assure her that your dog is “current” (only if asked, and that’s true for life, if your Poodle had all these shots so far).

  12. Ralph Haywood on June 11, 2017 at 9:36 pm

I attended a grammar school in England in the 1950’s along with about 650 other boys.
I never heard of any case of autism, ADHD, rhinitis, eczema, dermatitis, neurodevelopmental disorder, etc etc during my entire years at school.
How medical practices have changed, and not for the better!
Veterinary practices too seem to have followed suit – too little concern by many in the business with the real physical and mental health of our pets.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on June 12, 2017 at 9:55 am

Very similar experience here, Ralph. No autism, no asthma, no peanut allergies. That all changed about the same time I became aware of vaccine injury possibilities, and directly paralleling the huge uptick in childhood vaccinations. And, yes, the vets started pushing more vaccines around the same time, and the levels of chronic disease, as a result, are truly staggering.

  13. Dr Mary on June 11, 2017 at 9:33 pm

    Dr. Falconer!
Thanks so much for finding this article and bringing it to the light of day! As you well know, researchers who explore the vaccine-damage issue are often at risk (see: Dr Andrew Wakefield) for public humiliation and worse. Perhaps the evidence has finally become so overwhelming and obvious that there’s a little more latitude to expose the truth. Gives me a bit of hope! Thanks, Doc!!

  14. Marsha Kulley on June 11, 2017 at 9:14 pm

It further reinforces what I’ve come to believe over the years. A very sad state of affairs indeed. Thank God, I have no biological children and have to fight that battle too!

  15. Fiona on June 11, 2017 at 8:29 pm

Titers, titers, TITERS!!! I haven’t made the full homeopathic jump…yet…but I’m learning! This results of this study connects so many dots for me. My daughter, age 34, being diagnosed ADHD at age 6. Her children, especially the eldest, now having mental problems. Her second child whose growth is so high on the chart…she was 9 years old and already started her period! We’ve all been lab mice. Then our dogs…creatures who are unable to speak our spoken language and cannot say “NO”. As a guardian of my breed, I do say NO for them!! It’s my duty and my responsibility!

    • Will Falconer, DVM on June 11, 2017 at 9:02 pm

      Hey Fiona,
I’m so glad the dots are getting more connected. And it’s huge that you’re standing strong with ‘Vitamin N’ (NO!) when you see fit.
But, did you know that low/falling titers ≠ [do NOT equal] a lapse in immunity?
If that’s news (and it is to many, so you’d not be alone), please check out this post that explains why yearly titers is a waste of time and money (and worse, can become a mistaken urge to vaccinate again).

      • Julie Moon on June 11, 2017 at 11:00 pm

I titer for my vet. I look at it as my way of educating them. My Berber had her shots at 1 year and she was titered every year after that. She lived to be 11 and had good titers until she died. My Maltese I quit vaccinating when she was 7 and her titers were good when she died at 13. That was Berner, by the way (spell check).

        • Will Falconer, DVM on June 12, 2017 at 9:13 am

Love it, Julie! Two objectives covered with one procedure. Just be a bit cautious that you’re ready for the next “lesson” if you have a titer drop off in one of your seniors in the future. It’s far too common that people misinterpret that as, “Immunity’s about gone, we gotta re-vaccinate.”
Not true. Here’s how to be smarter than that crowd, and remind your vet what he/she learned years ago in vet school.

  16. Michelle on June 11, 2017 at 7:59 pm

Absolutely agree! Thanks for sharing. This just makes me more determined than ever to make sure Dr. Whitecoat doesn’t take my fur babies in the back without my presence and absolutely stand my ground on no vaccines. My cats, one in particular who lost her mother at one week old, is suffering from all the vaccines she got as a little baby. Asthma being her number one problem. None of them get vaccines anymore but not before it was too late and each got something when they were little. The more I learn the more I’m upset for potentially harming my babies. I have health issues that I believe are vaccine induced but who knows. More and more unheard of things. Thanks so much for the articles!

  17. Diane on June 11, 2017 at 7:49 pm

There is a reason why our furbabies are dying earlier and people seem to be getting sicker. I have no absolute proof of how or why, but I know after my last golden ret. passed at 7 1/2 from mass liver cancer, I am now a vaccine rebel. I took my boy to the vet as soon as I got the reminder card each year and got multiple vaccines each year, along with the 3 yr rabies shot in one visit when it was it time for that. Topicals monthly for fleas and ticks during the warmer months here in the northeast. Never, ever again!. I am so tired of the “shots for their profit” that they push on us. The most important thing to do is educate ourselves and be the voice for our furbabies. We are the only ones who can stand up for them and stop this insane over-vaccinating. After he passed in 2014, I stopped annual shots for my aussie who was 7 at the time. He is now almost 10 and will never get another annual shot. Our golden we got after that, had a puppy shot at the breeders and his 2nd and final one at 4 months old. He has not and will never get another one and will be 3 on 6/13. I had titers done last fall and he is good on everything. I have gone all natural with topicals also. Thank you Dr Will for all you do and putting the word out. I enjoy reading your articles.

    • Will Falconer, DVM on June 11, 2017 at 9:10 pm

You are on a great natural path, Diane, where each dog, starting younger and younger, benefits from each who’s gone before (and your growing body of knowledge as you continue to learn more and smarter choices).
      Bravo!

    • alison on June 13, 2017 at 6:28 pm

Have you thought of a liver detox for your remaining fur babies? I have a good homeopath who has prescribed a liver detoxification for my 2 dogs who have travelled overseas and have had to have ridiculous amounts of drugs.

  18. Suki on June 11, 2017 at 7:08 pm

This is where vivisection has taken us. I always knew no good comes out of evil.

  19. Ellen on June 11, 2017 at 6:51 pm

Absolutely confirms my stand, and what I’ve believed for a long time. I’m of the age where my parents were of that healthier generation of much less vaccines.
As for Snopes, I realized their slanted and biased “research” a few years back.
